Get the Gloss

Although my signature lip look is sheer and shiny, I’ve been into wearing stronger lips this past winter. As the days are getting warmer and longer, I feel that the time to go lighter with my lip look has come. I think shiny, glossy lips look juicy, inviting and kissable. I think glossy lips are sexy lips. To sum up; I love lip gloss! Here are some of my favourites:

Make up Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss in shade 400

I didn’t realise this was an opaque gloss when I picked it up, but I have to say, I love this for a bold, polished look. This gloss gives the striking combination of opacity and vinyl like shine (this range also boasts a selection of sheer shades). The heavy pigmentation of this shade means that more precision than is required than usual when applying a gloss. The impact is definitely worth the extra effort. As far as lip glosses go this is one is fairly long lasting.

Revlon Super Lusterous Lip Gloss in Fatal Apple

Revlon is one of my favourite drug store make up brands and this gloss is particularly nice. I have the red shade which is impactful without being overpowering. I love how this sheer gloss makes red lips wearable for even casual occasions.

Smith and Cult Lip Lacquer in Warning

Housed inside a beautiful container, I have the ‘warning’ shade of this gloss. It contains small sparkles which give lips dimension rather than appearing glittery. This looks super red in the tube, but shows as very wearable raspberry on the lips.

Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer for lips in shade 204 Rose Tendre

I’ve read that this is Jennifer Aniston’s favourite lip gloss. This makes sense to me because of the chic, understated look this gives to lips. This gloss makes lips look moist rather than wet and gives a subtle hint of colour.

Max Factor Elixir Gloss in Glowing Peach

This feels stickier on the lips than the rest of the glosses but looks really pretty. I wore this in ‘glowing peach’ to a summer wedding with a pale gold eye. I really love the shade; it is a sheer and therefore very wearable pale nude. This also pairs great with a dark smokey eye.

Nars Lip Gloss

Nars is known for making great lip glosses, the large range boasts beautiful colours and glorious shine. ‘Belize’ (top picture) is a pale, creamy nude and ‘Triple X’ (bottom picture) is a clear gloss. I like  pairing Belize with dark eye colours and wearing Triple X alone or on top of other lip colours for a super glassy finish.

What’s your favourite lip gloss? Can anyone recommend a good rosy nude shade (writing this has helped me identify a gap in my lip gloss wardrobe!)?
