I double cleanse in the evenings to remove all traces of spf and or makeup. This ensures that my skin is perfectly clean and ready to absorb my skincare products. I always use either a cleansing balm or oil as my first step. If I have time on my hands I love to indulge in the ritual of smoothing a silky balm all over my dry face and thoroughly massaging in before emulsifying with water and removing with a damp muslin cloth or flannel. This method is super effective at melting off makeup and feels really decadent. Here are my thoughts on the original balm from Eve Lom:
The multi-award-winning cleanser contains a signature blend of four aromatic plant oils—clove, eucalyptus, hops and Egyptian chamomille. This multipurpose product deep cleanses without drying or stripping, removes makeup, gently exfoliates (when used with the included muslin cloth), improves circulation (when used with the Eve Lom massage technique), hydrates and tones.
Active Ingredients:
- Clove Oil (has antiseptic properties to encourage clear skin)
- Eucalyptus Oil (helps drain away toxins)
- Hops Oil (tones)
- Egyptian Chamomile Oil (softens and soothes)
- Cocoa Butter (conditions)
Directions state to apply to dry skin and massage using the technique linked above. Next apply the muslin cloth soaked in hot water over the entire face, take a deep breath through the nose and hold the muslin in place for a count of 7 to 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times. Rinse out the cloth and remove all traces of makeup and cleanser by using circular exfoliating movements. Finally, if you’re feeling brave, Eve Lom recommend rinsing the cloth in cold water and applying to the face to close the pores.

Some people complain about the hoppy smell but I like it. Skin is left soft takes and takes on a beautiful with a matte glow. This product is suitable for all skin types and is one of my absolute favourite cleansing balms.
