Brand Focus: Omorovicza

Married couple Margaret and Stephen Omorovicza set up their namesake beauty brand in collaboration with a Nobel Prize-winning lab in Hungary. Omorovicza products contain rare mineral extracts from a 2,000-year-old thermal spring in Budapest. From the stunning packaging to the experience of using the products to the results; Omorovica is the quintessential luxury skincare brand. Here are my thoughts on some items from the range:

Queen Of Hungary Misty

This toning and hydrating treatment is based on a 14th century concoction originally created for Queen Elizabeth of Hungary. The mist contains a blend of proteins and vitamins which anchor the minerals and trace elements from Hungarian waters and improve their delivery. Pineapple and Rosemary extracts rich in enzymes and fruit acids work to correct skin tone and brighten complexion.

I love the decadent ritual of misting my face with this rose scented nectar which makes a lovely first step in an evening skincare routine. This can equally be used over make up to give a fresh, dewy look. The light rose scent is heavenly; I would bathe in the stuff it I could! The frosted glass bottle looks great on my bedside table. This 100ml size and feels heavy and luxurious. I also have a cute mini for on the go:

Thermal Cleansing Balm

This black balm promises to clear congested pores, draw out impurities and revitalise the skin, leaving it glowing and silky. It delivers on every claim. Made with mud from Europe’s largest thermal lake in Hungary, the balm is rich calcium and magnesium which deeply cleanse. Omorovicza’s unique Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivery system helps these minerals to absorb directly into to the epidermis and dermis levels of the skin.

The whole experience of using this product feels special as it is such a luxurious cleanse. I smooth this onto dry skin and leave on to work it’s magic for a while whilst breathing in the uplifting orange blossom frangrance. Next, I remove with a wash cloth or facial mitt which has been submerged in hot water and wrung out. This pampering treat leaves skin super clean and soft (this is powerful enough to remove even waterproof mascara). The instructions state that a second cleanse is not necessary but it is my personal preference to always double cleanse if I have been wearing make up. In this case I follow up with a foaming cleanser. The first time I used this balm, it instantly became my holy grail cleanser. I was therefore more than a little perturbed  when my boyfriend recently accidentally spat mouthwash into the open jar!!

Facial Mitt

This pure cotton mitt can be used to remove remove cleansers and masks. The cute little mitt gets into all the crevices of the face and is perfect for travel.

Ultramoor Mud Mask

There’s more mud from that big old lake in the Ultramoor Mud Mask. The naturally black mud is rich in minerals and, like the thermal cleansing balm, is supplemented by calcium and magnesium compounds which are known to help repair and heal the skin.

This multitasker acts as a deep cleanser, exfoliator and a mask. After trying this out my skin reflected light in a way I have only previously experienced after using the legendary Kate Somerville Exfolikate. This also does an amazing job drawing out oil and leaves pores clean. This is a good mask to take travelling as it is such a great all rounder.

Gold Rescue Cream

This rich moisturiser is designed for mature skins and utilises the anti-inflammatory properties of collodial gold. Omega 6 nourishes and peptides work to reduce the appearance of lines. This cream boosts the synthesis of collagen and elastin, as well as increasing the transfer of nutrients to the epidermis to optimise skin repair and protect skin from the elements. Gold Rescue Cream is suitable for sensitive, dry and combination skin to tackle loss of firmness and other signs of ageing.

This cream is extremely thick and rich so only a pea sized amount is needed. Skin glows after application. I only received a sample so I can’t speak to the long term benefits. This is a little too rich for my oily combination skin but I think it would be great for dry skin especially in winter.

Deep Cleansing Mask

This deep-cleansing treatment contains, you guessed it, Hungarian Moor mud. The mud used in this mask must be from a magical part of the lake though because nothing leaves my pores cleaner than this product. This really does give the most thorough cleanse I have ever experienced and therefore has the prestigious honour of being my all time favourite mask (I’ve tried a lot!!).
