Brand Focus: Beauty Pie

Beauty Pie is probably the beauty brand that aligns most closely with the concept of making every day luxe. From the founder of some of my favourite brands (Soaper Doaper, Soap and Glory and Bliss) this buyers club is redefining the concept of luxury beauty. Members are hooked up directly to prestigious labs from around the world to access cutting edge formulas at cost prices after paying a membership fee. This will mean vast savings for most beauty junkies. I think this growing buyers club is the future. The financial times recently stated that Beauty Pie is disrupting the luxury beauty industry. Whilst I have been interested in the concept for a while, an introductory offer of a jar free of free serum capsules prompted me to finally take the plunge. For my first order I tried products from a few different categories:

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Nourishing Body Polish

 

I love the fact that this gentle salt scrub also contains smoothing mango and papaya enzymes. As well as exfoliating, the luxurious polish also moisturises with nourishing vegan omega 3 oils and hydrating coconut milk. Also on the inci list are the antioxidant vitamin E and apple stem cell extracts which are associated with a host of skincare benefits. Real orange, lemon and tonka bean essences combine for a delicate citrusy scent that is right up my street. Skin is left super soft with a visible sheen after use. I highly recommend this scrub.

Brazilian Lime, Fig Leaves & Tea Eau De Parfum

I saw an instagram post about this perfume and the caption stated that it made the wearer feel famous. I don’t want be famous but I do want to smell famous!! I liked the sound of the notes so went ahead and ordered based on the description. This risky move worked out for me because the scent is divine. Beauty Pie describe this a sophisticated, clean modern fragrance and I wholeheartedly agree. The delicate, fresh, citrusy scent is perfect for summer; I wish I’d ordered it months ago. My only issue is that this doesn’t last long on the skin.

Superactive Capsules

The introductory gift I received is a mixture of the three varieties of serum capsules that Beauty Pie recently released. These targeted ‘one-shot’ capsules hold high doses of stable actives and double as pore filling priming bases. Although Beauty Pie state that these can be used at any stage of a skincare routine I do wonder about whether products layered on top of these silicony feeling serums could penetrate into the skin. For this reason I see myself using these on nights when I don’t have the time or inclination to do a multi step skincare routine. The capsule form ensures that ingredients stay super fresh and makes them perfect for travel.

Hyaluronic Acid & Biopeptide Microspheres Serum

 

The pink capsules contain hyaluronic acid and biopeptides to combat signs of ageing instantly and over time. A silicone copolymer foundation-priming base gives an immediate blurring effect on fine lines and wrinkles. Dehydrated hyaluronic acid absorbs into the skin and diffuses over 1-2 hours to hydrate, plump and smooth. Bio-identical peptides help prevent the formation of the skin’s internal aging enzymes. Clinical studies showed a significant decrease in visible wrinkle depth after 4 weeks use, on crows feet, forehead and nasolabial fold wrinkles. The 100% biodegradable capsules are made from red seaweed. I see myself using this silky smooth serum to minimise lines and prime prior to applying evening makeup.

Pure 3% Resveratrol Microsponge + Exotic Fruit Oils

 

The purple capsules contain individual doses of resveratrol ‘the longevity molecule’ and exotic fruit oils (pomegranate, pequi and raspberry) for free radical optimized anti-ageing action. The 3% pure slow release resveratrol microsponges boast the single most powerful antioxidant polyphenol from the skin of red grapes which fights the signs of collagen-loss, skin pigmentation and sun damage. The inclusion of essential fatty acids support skin’s natural moisture-trapping barrier and improves hydration. Peptides help prevent the appearance of premature skin aging.

Pure Double Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum

 

The orange capsules contain two forms of vitamin C (pure vitamin C 10% and slow release vitamin C in microsponge 0.5%) along with vitamin E acetate for free radical neutralization. These powerful antioxidants help protect skin from environmental damage, improve firmness, even out skin tone and minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C is known for it’s ability to brighten the skin and vitamin E provides moisture. Like the hyaluronic capsules these are 100% biodegradable as they are made from red seaweed.

Clinical study results:

• 24.1% improvement in skin firmness was measured after 2 weeks daily use
• 33.5% improvement in skin firmness was measured after 4 weeks daily use
• 13.5% improvement in skin smoothness was measured after 2 weeks daily use
• 15.5% improvement in skin smoothness was measured after 4 weeks daily use

Quick Colour Contour Supergel

 

This contour gel’s applicator is reminiscent of the Charlotte Tilbury liquid contour wand with it’s cushion tip. This allows for precise application which I then blend out with a sponge or brush. The sheer gel comes in 2 shades for definition that’s subtle or dramatic. I opted for shade 01 which is a soft brown that blends seamlessly:
