This Estée Lauder brands beauty box is billed as the ultimate fresher’s survival kit which contains products valued over £69 for the bargain price of just £25. I wish there was an affordable way for me to sample prestige beauty products back when I was a fresher (my student loan stretched to drugstore brands exclusively!). That feels like a lifetime ago, but this beauty box is also perfect for those of us whose student days are behind them!!
Clinique 2-in-1 Cleansing Micellar Gel + Light Makeup Remover
This gel to water micellar cleanser removes light make up and cleans the skin. The cooling tissue off formula left my face feeling fresh and smooth. As the gel is not designed for removing long-wearing or waterproof formulas, I favour my garnier micellar water which removes all traces of make up with ease. This mini will come in handy for travel or my gym bag though.
Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color
Bobbi Brown’s new hybrid boasts the look of a lipstick with the feel of a balm by combining crushed pigments with hydrating beeswax. This bullet has the light, comfortable feeling of a balm and gives sheer coverage which can be layered to build up a stronger colour with a satin matte finish. The rich shade ‘Ruby’ is perfect for autumn, however it draws attention to any dry patches so I would recommend exfoliating prior to use.
Smashbox Superfan Mascara
I can see why this mascara is rated five stars on the smashbox website. This formula gives amazing length, incredible seperation and doesn’t smudge. Superfan gives that false lash look; It’s one of the best mascaras I have used.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
This fruity smelling mask lives up to its name and provides skin with intense moisturisation. The creamy formula is enriched with avocado and apricot kernel oils. As well as using this on my face; I dab it onto elbows and knees to soften these often dry spots. I love this fruity wonder for evenings when I’m short on time or feeling too lazy to do a full skincare routine.
Estée Lauder DayWear Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant 24H-Moisture Creme SPF 15
Estée Lauder always delivers on good quality skincare and this is another five star rated product. This day cream for normal/combo skin defends against—and diminishes—the appearance of premature ageing with anti-oxidants and a broad spectrum sunscreen. In addition, it claims to reduce the look of first signs of ageing, like dullness and fine, dry lines and refresh skin with lasting hydration. This moisturiser leave my skin smooth and glowing plus the fresh cucumber scent smells like spa. The only drawback for me is that I prefer a higher spf than 15 but will throw this mini in my gym on cloudy days (when a few less uv rays make it down to earth!).
MAC Strobe Cream
I am a long time fan this cult cream. This multitasker is favoured for bringing luminosity to skin with iridescent particles. The glow is subtle when used this is used as a base for make up and more intense when applied over the top of foundation. I love the dewy look but walk a fine line with my oily combination skin which can easily veer into looking greasy. I would not recommend using this all over the face on very oily skin. However this versatile product can be used to highlight the high points of the face only or mixed with foundation for a custom glow.
In addition to the immediate cosmetic benefits, strobe cream also works to brighten up skin in the long term with potent botanicals, vitamins, green tea and antioxidants. The sample included in this box is in the original pink tinted cream, now called pink lite since the new peach, silver, red and gold shades were recently introduced.
Glamglow Gravitymud
Gravitymud makes masking more aesthetically pleasing for the instragram age!! This peel off mask transforms from white to chrome as it dries. Directions say to apply generously so I pilled on a thick layer which took way longer than 20 minutes to dry, so I would recommend not being too heavy handed with the application. Glamglow claim that peeling off this mask will reveal contoured, toned-looking skin. Active ingredients are teaoxi (ground olive leaf) which has benefits for hydration and elasticity, marshmallow (which I assume is responsible for the deliciously sweet scent of the mask) and liquorice leaf. I could feel afirming sensation as the mask dried and I could see cheekbones after peeling it off. This really impressed me and I will be looking to purchase the full size when I use up the sample.
Gravitymud can also be used to firm the neck and décolletage and is recommended for use twice a week. Glamglow advise against using water anytime during process and after so targeted ingredients can remain on the skin.
Bb.Thickening Dryspun Finish
This translucent, dry finishing spray claims to add lift, airy fullness and texture that lasts for fine to medium hair with a straight to wavy texture. Designed to be spritzed onto dry hair after styling, polymers provide light to medium hold while sunflower extracts protect hair against environmental damage. Hydrolyzed wheat protein conditions hair and silk powder provides texture and volume.
This spray gave even my limp locks some guts. The only draw back is, as with many texturising sprays, this gives hair a gritty feeling, so maybe one to skip for romantic occasions if you’re anticipating your beau running their fingers through your hair!!
In conclusion this is another great value beauty box from the Estée Lauder brands. I hope they keep them coming! Will you be grabbing one?
