With summer in full swing I’ve put together my top beauty picks for channeling beach goddess vibes. Whether you’re hitting an actual beach or just want to look and smell like vacation here are my recommendations:
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Skinscent
Unadulterated beach goddess in a bottle. This heady blend of bergamot, warm amber, tiare flower, vanilla and coconut smells like a tropical holiday. I can’t get enough this scent. It’s been my most reached for fragrance this summer. I’m so glad that Estée Lauder have made this part of their permanent collection.
Guerlain Terracota Bronzing Powder
This legendary bronzer will enhance an existing tan when you hit the beach bar or allow you to fake an oh so natural sun kissed glow. I use the lightest shade (00 blondes; despite being a brunette!) of this creamy, blendble powder for a subtle effect. If desired multiple layers can be used to build up to a deeper shade but this powder never looks patchy or dirty. Terracotta bronzer contains small, bronze shimmer particles which are almost imperceptible on the skin. The iconic terracotta fragrance containing notes of bergamot, jasmin and neroli ups the luxury factor. Here I am bronzed to the nines with the coveted powder:
Coola Makeup Setting Spray
This cooling spray fixes make up in the heat and is a convenient way to top up sun protection with factor 30. The matte setting spray contains hyaluronic acid as well as cucumber and aloe vera to soothe the skin. That being said the spray also contains alcohol so it’s not a product I would use in the long term though this multitasker is very convenient for holidays and sun. Here I am on a hot day after misting myself with the spray:
I popped this in my bag and spritzed it on throughout the day to cool down as well as top up my sun protection.
Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray
Mermaid hair in a bottle. This is not one of those gritty beach texurisers we’ve seen before. With zero salt, this is billed as a moisturizing glamour spray which gives texture, light hold and shine. Designed to be used on wet or dry hair to give a piecey, wavy texture and mega watt shine. Go easy with this spray is your hair is on the greasy side as exotic oils and plant extracts (including safflower seed oil, marigold flower extract and amber extract) provide tons of moisture and shine. The fragrance is fresh expensive. A bespoke ‘beach waves complex’ contains hydrolysed wheat protein and pro-vitamin B5 to swell the hair shaft. Designed to be used in conjunction with air drying (who wants to point a hairdryer at their head in hot weather!?), the spray is colour and keratin treatment safe. Apres beach wave and shine spray provides UV protection for hair and the mini size is great for travel.
OPI Nail Lacquer in Cajun Shrimp
This unique coral/red shade sets off a tan beautifully and screams summer. I keep coming back to this iconic colour time and again.
Stila Crush Lip & Cheek Stain
Sometimes I like to add colour to my face without adding layers of make up. I love these Stila stains (I like the benefit ones too but the pen applicator method makes these so easy to apply especially when you’re on the run) for adding weightless colour to the face in the heat. I have these in a few shades but love the ‘passion fruit’ coral coloured shade in the sunshine. Stila lip and cheek stains are my solution to wearing make up in the hot weather as they feel like you have nothing on. Here I am wearing the ‘passion fruit’ shade on my cheeks and lips:
Urban Decay Beached Palette
I was mesmerised by the colours in this palette when I saw this new release. The gorgeous shimmery copper and bronze shades and the stunning pops of turquoise conjure up a unspoilt tropical ocean s and beaches. The stunning brow bone colour ‘salt’ is my favourite of the moment. This palette is comprised of the creamy pigmented shades we expect from urban decay. This summer palette is amazing. Sol de Janerio Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Brazilians know about beaches!! I feel like this stuff became an overnight sensation. The caffeine rich formula can be used all over the body for firmer skin. Bum bum cream takes a lot of rubbing in which is probably a good thing as vigorous massage is recommended to create heat for better absorption. Coconut and açaí oils as well as cupuaçu butter provide moisture whilst the subtle shimmer provides an immediate radiant glow. Making this part of your body care ritual is a calorie free way to satisty a sweet tooth which will leave you smelling like dessert with notes of almond, pistachio and salted caramel. I love the heavenly scent of this cream. A cute little travel sized tub of this is now available.
BareMinerals Tinted Complexion Rescue
On hot days the prospect of wearing foundation is really unappealing to me. Personally, on these kind of days I think a substantial base feels and looks wrong on my skin; which is why I love bare minerals complexion rescue. This is a tinted gel cream which has a lovely cooling feeling when applied to the skin. It doesn’t offer much in the way of coverage but it evens out skin tone and imparts a dewy sheen (I would not recommend this product for very oily skin). I think this great to use in lieu of foundation on super hot days and I love that it has spf 30. I keep this in the fridge for an extra cooling sensation. Nars Body Glow
One of my all time hero beauty products. This ultimate multi-purpose beauty oil moisturizes the skin whilst the rich rich chocolate shimmer imparts a stunning glow. The oil is composed of pure coconut extract combined with the bud of tahitian gardenia, which provides nutrients as well as a beautiful, delicate fragrance. This is an amazing summer product for me when it’s time for the limbs to come out. Body glow elevates a tan or cheats a bronze glow if you don’t have any colour (I use a couple of layers over milk bottle white legs). I always get compliments when I wear this oil which is beautiful for a night out and great for sunny days when you’re exposing some flesh too.
