I hate waste and I love getting a taste of luxe for less. For these reasons the ‘Too Good To Go’ app has quickly become one of my favourites. The app aims to reduce food waste by connecting eateries that would otherwise throw food away to customers that are willing to drop by just before closing to pick themselves up a bargain.
For example I received the four delicious cupcakes you see above from a local bakery for the price of a single cupcake. A wide range of food outlets participate in the enterprise; from local independent cafes, bakeries and takeaways to chain restaurants like yo sushi. Users pay between £2-£3.80 and receive a selection of the food that remains unsold at the end of the day.
I received a chocolate orange cupcake topped with a Terry’s chocolate orange segment:
A Rolo cupcake with a soft caramel centre
A classic red velvet cupcake:
My favourite of the bunch was the white chocolate and raspberry. This cupcake had raspberries baked into its light and airy sponge. The topping was also really light and not at all sickly. The perfect summer cupcake:
Packed in a lovely box these cupcakes would make a lovely treat for yourself some other lucky person!
