In the Bag

I love product sampling services; it’s so handy to have the opportunity to try new products without having to commit to full sized versions. Minis also come in so handy for travelling or taking to the gym. I get super excited to open my birchbox each month because I know it will contain great products.

This month’s birchbox is actually a birchbag; which is a nice extra as a spare wash bag always comes in handy. Here are my thoughts on the contents of June’s birchbox:

MeechNMia Brow Liner in #22 (Full Size)

FullSizeRenderI have never used a brow pencil before (despite my brother telling me often that I really should!!). I gave this a try and really liked the strong, defined look it gave my brows. This soft pencil is easy to work with and the shade #22 is perfect for my brunette arches. My box has already paid for itself with just this item as the cost of the box plus postage is £12.95 and the liner retails at £12.99.

Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream (Full Size)

FullSizeRenderI don’t like the name of this product due to the imagery it evokes!! Fortunately, I love everything else about it. I’m not generally big into hand cream but I love the uplifting citrusy aroma; this contains grapefruit and bitter orange essential oils. Slathering the cream on and breathing in the aroma is a lovely mid afternoon pick me up. Again this is a full size product that ordinarily retails for £8.

Scrub Love Hydrating Coconut Oil Body Scub (Coconut Mango)

FullSizeRenderAlthough it looks like gravel; this scrub smells like a tropical paradise. I cannot stress how heavenly the sweet, fruity scent is courtesy the mango and coconut it contains. This is a really coarse, heavy duty scrub. Coconut shell and flake provide the exfoliation whilst mango butter and nut oils deliver a fantastic hit of moisturisation. You will have a mess in your bathtub to deal with after using this, but I think it’s a more than fair trade off to be able to give yourself a spa standard body exfoliation at home. The mini pouch has a value of £3.20.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

FullSizeRenderI am cursed with hair that gets greasy quickly so am a user of dry shampoo. Like many dry shampoos this one can leave a white residue if you use a lot. I like to spray a little into my roots before I go to bed. The product works to absorb any oil that is produced overnight and there is no white residue or oiliness in the morning. This mini is perfect for travel or sticking in your handbag. Value = £1.07.

Arrow ENHANCE Waterproof Eyeliner in Bright Now

FullSizeRenderThis brightening pencil can be used in the inner and outer corners and or the waterline to brighten up eyes. I ofted for both and it did a good job of making my eyes look, brighter, bigger and more awake. This reminds me of Benefit’s eye bright though it is not as soft and blendable. I prefer eye bright as it is much easier to work with however this pencil gives similar results at a more affordable price. The value of this sample is £6.

As ever I was delighted with the contents of my birchbox. I received £31.22 worth of products for just £12.95. Products contained in each birchbox vary.

I wonder what will be in July’s birchbox…..

I am a long time subscriber and recent affiliate of birchbox. The views above are my honest opinions of the products I received this month.
