Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel
This product does a great job of brightening the skin. 10ml is a generous sample size that will give at least two treatments. The value of this sample is £9.90: that’s more double the cost of my entire pick ‘n’ mix!!
Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Pollutant Defending Masque
The second sample is less generous in size (5ml; a value of £1.87); however it would be churlish to complain since (a) my pick ‘n’ mix has already more than paid for itself with the first sample alone and (b) I’ve been wanting to try the new Kiehl’s masks since they came out a few months ago. This one currently has all 5 star reviews on Kiehls.co.uk!
Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra Weekly Self-Tan
I popped in this in my pick ‘n’ mix because I feel like a travel sized self tanner is bound to come in really handy sooner or later. This tube is 30ml (£6.35 value) which I reckon would do for one full body application. I like that you can choose the intensity of your tan depending on how long you let it develop for. 1-2 hours gives a light to medium tan, whilst three hours gives a deep hue. The cucumber and melon scent is deliciously fresh.
Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey Pour Homme Eau de Toilette Eau Fraîche
My boyfriend wears the original Issey Miyake fragrance. Out of curiosity I selected a sample of the citrusy ‘fresher’ update of the fragrance (1ml; 82p value). Neither of us really cared for this version. Isn’t that the great thing about samples; it’s no big deal if you’re not into the product!
Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Whipped Body Butter
This is a pretty generous 15 ml (£2.16 value) sample pot. Again it would be perfect for taking to the gym or on a short trip. The product inside is wonderful. It smells absolutely delicious; after smothering yourself in this you will smell like Cleopatra after a bath!! The original creme de corps takes a while to sink into my skin but this whipped version melts in so easily and leaves skin velvety smooth. I now have my sights set on a full size tub.
So there you have it I received £21.10 worth of product for my £3.95 which I was refunded in voucher form to spend on feelunique.com. I put this towards the cost of my mum’s birthday present which I obviously would have bought anyway. What a fantastic service! I will look forward to choosing my pick ‘n’ mix each month. Finishing with a slight tangent: has reading this article made any others readers of a certain age nostalgic for Woolworths pix and mix!?
